There may have been a serious thunderstorm the night before, and the ground may have shaken the morning of, but by Saturday afternoon, Candler County folks were ready for some good food. So when the food trucks rolled into downtown Metter for the annual Food Truck Festival, folks were lined up and ready!
“We had a great turn out, and I’m thankful for the opportunity to host the festival,” said Jessica Rhodes, the new executive director of Metter-Candler Chamber of Commerce of her first official chamber event. “It was exciting to meet the people of our town that I haven’t been able to meet yet. The day was hot, but it was a lot of fun!”
“Overall, all of the trucks had a great day and turnout!” Rhodes said.
Six of the eight scheduled trucks took part in the event. While two, Ocean n Motion and Tanner’s On the Go were unable to attend, both plan to be in town for the Fall Food Truck Festival, Rhodes said.
“Everyone had a great time and enjoyed all different types of foods. The ‘Big Dogs’ were a huge hit’ the kids (and adults) loved seeing the big dogs and getting a snowcone.”
“We at the Chamber were thankful for the opportunity to bring something fun to the community,” she said. “We received great feedback from everyone and were excited for the coming events.”
“The Chamber plans to help sponsor the Communites in Schools Carnival coming up in July and is looking forward to a few business after hours events with the retail stores in town,” she said. “We are also looking forward to the fall! We have several events planned for the that time!”
