Pinewood’s varsity cross country teams attended their 2020 region meet hosted at Trinity Christian School on Oct. 20.
The teams competing were Pinewood, Frederica Academy, Bulloch Academy, St. Andrews School and Trinity Christian School.
In the 3.1-mile varsity course, Laci Stone led Pinewood’s girls’ team in 6th place with a time of 25:12. Stone was followed by Ella Johns, 11th (26:54); Payton Cowart, 12th (27:00); Lilly Griffin, 13th (27:04), Matalie Miles 15th (29:00); Abi Scott, 16th (29:13); and Ally McCall, 17th (29:36).
Also in the 3.1-mile course, Truett Rountree led the Pinewood boys’ team in 18th place with a time of 24:55. Jax Lewis followed Rountree in 19th place (24:57), and Bryson Croft finished 23rd (28:30).
Pinewood’s varsity girls’ team placed as region runner-up and qualified for state with a score of 52 points.
Frederica Academy won with a score of 19 points, and Trinity Christian School placed 3rd with 73 points.
Laci Stone, placing 6th overall, was named All-Region and qualified individually for state.
