The Metter Middle School Tigers opened their season this past Thursday against South Tattnall Middle School in Glennville. The Lady Tigers jumped out to an early lead in the first inning but watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in the 8-3 loss.
South Tattnall scored on an error and a passed ball during a Lady Warrior's at bat in the first inning. They then scored four runs in the second to extend their lead.
The MMS Lady Tigers lost despite out-hitting South Tattnall four to zero.
Millie Fordham started the game for Metter and lasted one and one-third innings, allowing zero hits and seven runs while striking out five. Darcie Salter threw one and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen. She also struck out five.
Salter, Marissa Kilpatrick, Kaley Cardell and Fordham each managed one hit to lead the team for the evening.
Despite falling to the Lady Warriors the Lady Tigers are off to a strong start of the season. They will face Toombs County Middle School this Thursday at 3:30 p.m. in Toombs County.
