Last week the Lady Tigers played three games. On Tuesday, Dec. 2, the Tigers traveled to Bryan Co. and took on the 5-2 Redskins. 

In a hard-fought contest, Metter lost by a score of 72-47. Leading the scoring for the Lady Tigers was Shay Johnson with 24 points, 6 rebounds, 3 steals, and only 1 turnover. 

Next, Tamira Walker had 7 points, 1 block, 11 rebounds and 7 turnovers. 

Chauree Smith had 6 rebounds. Two of those offensive rebounds were put back up to bring her total scoring to 6 points. 

DeAyshia Gordon added 4 points and 5 rebounds and had 6 turnovers.

On Friday the Lady Tigers hosted Jeff Davis. Metter opened up strong, outscoring the Yellowjackets by a score 16-7 and finished the half up by 21, but the game was anything but over in the eyes of the Lady Yellowjackets. 

After all the dust had settled the Metter Lady Tigers lost by 3, not making free-throws and committing too many fouls and turnovers.

Leading the way Friday was Shay Johnson with a total of 28 points. She also scored the 1000th point of her career despite being 9 for 24 from the free-throw line. She had 7 rebounds and 4 turnovers.

Next, Tamira Walker had 14 points, 7 rebounds and also had 4 turnovers. 

Chauree Smith added 2 points, 6 rebounds and committed 5 turnovers. 

DeAyshia Gordon had 2 points, 8 strong rebounds and committed 6 turnovers. 

Morgan Aldrich added 1 point, 4 rebounds and 3 turnovers and did have 3 strong blocks. Metter out rebounded Jeff Davis with a total of 38 but committed a total of 32 turnovers.

The Lady Tigers hosted rival ECI Saturday night. Metter lost by 6 after trailing by as much as 12 late in the game and with a season-high of 41 rebounds in the contest.

Leading scorers for Metter were Shay Johnson with 21; Tamira Walker with 13, going 3 for 4 from the charity stripe; Ja’Khia Edenfield, 6; Raldaisha Scott, 3; Chauree Smith and Morgan Aldrich, 2 points each.

Tamira Walker had the team’s first double-double of the season with 13 points and 11 rebounds adding 1 block. 

Morgan Aldrich had a season-high with 7 rebounds, and Ja’Khia Edenfield had her season-high rebounding with 6, as both were much more aggressive on the floor. Atlantis Roundtree and Shay Johnson had 5 rebounds each.

The Lady Tigers are now 1-3 overall and 0-2 in the region. They will travel to region-opponent Bacon County on Friday and will play host to a non-region opponent, Long County, on Saturday.
