In action last week, the Metter High Lady Tigers hosted region opponent Woodville Tompkins and lost by a score of 58-48. The Lady Tigers played really hard and were down at half by two, 20-18. 

Metter was able to tie it up in the third but eventually gave up a late 3, putting the Lady Tigers down by 5 at the end of the quarter. When the dust settled the Lady Tigers trailed by 10.

Working hard and leading the Lady Tigers was Shay Johnson with 23 points, going only 5 for 14 from the free-throw line. 

Sophomore TT Walker had a season-high 17 points, going 9 for 12 from the free-throw line with 8 rebounds. Morgan Aldrich had 2 points but led the team with 10 rebounds. DeAyshia Gordon and Ja’Khia Edenfield both had 2 points and 5 rebounds each. 

Chauree Smith also had 2 points and added 3 rebounds. Raldaisha Scott had the first charge of the season taken for the team.

Friday night, the Lady Tigers traveled to Bacon County to take on the Red Raiders in a region match-up. The final score was 52-44 and the first region win for Metter. 

Leading the way for the Lady Tigers was Shay Johnson with 22 points and 11 rebounds for her first double-double of the season. She had too many turnovers with 8, but added 5 steals and 1 block shot. 

Next, Tamira Walker had 13 points with 5 rebounds and too many turnovers with 9. DeAyshia Gordon added 8 points with 6 in the final quarter and captured 7 rebounds with no turnovers. Raldaisha Scott had several good assists and had 6 points with 8 key rebounds and only 3 turnovers. Ja’Khia Edenfield added 3 points and 3 rebounds. Metter had another season high with 52 points.

On Saturday night, the Lady Tigers hosted the Blue Tide from Long County. In a tight first half, Metter led after two quarters, 16-14. Playing better defense in the 3rd, the Lady Tigers only allowed Long County to score 2 points and led 33-16. The final score ended 39-19.

Leading the Lady Tigers were Shay Johnson with 12 points and 6 rebounds with 7 turnovers and 4 steals. Chauree Smith had 7 points and 7 rebounds and only 1 turnover. Tamira ‘TT’ Walker also had 7 points with only 3 rebounds and committed 4 turnovers and had a steal. 

Senior Parijia Mincey had 4 points in the 3rd quarter. DeAyshia Gordon added 3 points and led the team with 8 rebounds and a steal. Morgan Aldrich and Raldaisha Scott both had 2 points each in the victory.

The team's overall record is 3-4 and 1-3 in the region play.
