The Metter High Cross Country Teams traveled to the W. W. Mann Center in Statesboro for a cross country meet on Thursday, Aug. 30. The Tigers were competing against both private and public schools in this meet. There were 118 boys and 95 girls running.

Coming in first place for the Metter boys’ team was junior Jovhany Hinojosa with a time of 20:16, finishing in 21st place overall. Second place was senior Jonathan Bautista who pushed and shoveled in a battle to finish with a time of 21:59 (42nd place overall). The Tigers finished in 5th place as a team.

In the girls’ race, coming in first place was Junior Angel Jarvis with a time of 25:23, finishing in 28th place overall. She was followed by sophomore and newcomer Patricia Mazon with a time of 29:32, finishing in 52nd place. The Lady Tigers finished in 7th place as a team.

The next meet is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 5, at Johnson County High School in Wrightsville. Meet time is 4 p.m.
