The Metter High Lady Tigers lost to Southeast Bulloch by a final score of 37-33 and won over Toombs County 49-43 since basketball action resumed after Christmas.

The SEB game, played on Dec. 28, was the championship round of the Metter Christmas Tournament hosted by the Lady Tigers. Metter opened that event with an impressive 37-33 win over the 5A Lady Phoenix from New Hamstead. 

After beating the Lady Phoenix, the Lady Tigers fought hard against SEB but lost by a score of 37-33. 

Leading the way for the Lady Tigers were Shay Johnson with 19 points and five steals and Tamira Walker with nine points and seven rebounds with 10 turnovers.

Chauree Smith had a first-quarter three and six rebounds, while DeAyshia Gordon went two-for-four from the free-throw line and added eight rebounds.

This past weekend, Lady Tigers hosted region rival Toombs County in a very exciting game that had a few lead changes. Metter found a way to win the game by a score of 49-43. 

Leading the way for the Lady Tigers were Tamira Walker with 15 points, nine rebounds and one steal. Next, Shay Johnson had 12 points, three rebounds and one steal. 

Chauree Smith added nine points and five rebounds, while DeAyshia Gordon had six points and seven big rebounds with only one turnover. 

Parijia Mincey added four points from two key backside rebound put backs in the second quarter and had four rebounds total for the game. 

Next, Atlantis Round-tree had two points and one rebound. Sophomore Raldaisha Scott went one-for-four from the free throw line and had one rebound.
