Billy Walden

Mr. Billy Walden, 91, resident of Canoochee, died Sunday evening, June 21, 2020, at Emanuel Medical Center.

Mr. Billy was born in Emanuel County, son of the late Henry Athen Walden and Bertie Henry Walden. He was preceded in death by his parents;, two sisters, Orie Morris (Martis) and Althea Green (Lewis); twin brother, Jack Walden (Tissie); brother, J.W. Walden, and granddaughter, Rebekah Leigh Hall.

Billy was a member and deacon of Canoochee Missionary Baptist Church, a member of the Men’s Sunday School Class, Gideons International (State Faith Fund Coordinator), Young Outstanding Farmer and a member of the Emanuel County Hospital Authority. Billy enjoyed going to church, reading his Bible, fishing, family Sunday dinners, and spending time with his family. He was a farmer. He was also a pilot and loved aviation.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Hilda Grace Walden of Canoochee; daughter, Brenda Kay Blount (David) of Canoochee; daughter, Cynthia Walden Hall of Canoochee; son, William Athen “Bill” Walden (Patricia) of Metter; grandchildren, Allison Renee’ Blount Martin (Will), David Rhett Blount, Brandon Reeves Blount (Julianne), Alysa Ann Walden Bletscher (Bren), William Isaac Walden (Sarah Beth), and Rachel Grace Hall; great-grandchildren, William David ‘Billy’ Martin Jr., John Nathan Surrett Martin, Samuel Harry Martin, Lyla Grace Martin, Nicholas Walton Martin, Abel Lawson Martin, Mary Charles Blount and Benjamin Reeves Blount; a sister, Betty Ruth Walden Wheeler; and a brother-in-law, Gene Hyland Hall.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday (today), June 24, 2020, at 3 p.m. from Canoochee Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Wiggins and Will Martin officiating. Interment will follow in the Canoochee Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be: David “Rhett” Blount, Brandon Reeves Blount, William “Isaac” Walden, “Bren” Daniel Bletscher, William David “Billy” Martin Jr., John Nathan Surrett Martin, Samuel Harry Martin, and William David ‘Will’ Martin.

Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of Canoochee Missionary Baptist Church and Gideons.

The Family will receive friends at Tomlinson Funeral Home Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, Social Distancing guidelines are in place.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gideons International, P.O. Box 365, Swainsboro, Georgia 30401 in memory of Mr. Billy Walden.
