Horsing around on the Fourth

Elsa, 7, and Emsley King, 9, were all decked out in the Spirit of Independence during Saturday’s Independence Day Celebration at the Candler County Museum. But the two girls, who are the daughters of Cortney and Liam King, had to make way for a four-legged photo-bomber who wanted to celebrate as well. The Historical Society’s festival, sponsored jointly with the VFW, American Legion and Metter-Candler Chamber of Commerce, was one of many celebrations held throughout the weekend as friends and family gathered for the Fourth of July. Activities were highlighted by myriad mini-fireworks displays throughout the community on Sunday evening.
