A 98-year-old Evergreen man was killed in a crash with a farm tractor on Tuesday, July 9.

According to Georgia State Trooper Robbie Scott, Alvie Hackle, 98, of the Evergreen community was traveling south on Hwy. 129 South in a 1995 Ford Taurus when he attempted a left-hand turn into the path of a black Vector 300 fertilizer spreader driven by Henry Rance Bird, who was traveling north on Hwy. 129S. The crash occurred at the intersection of Evergreen Road.

The farm equipment struck the passenger side of the Taurus before striking a power pole.

Hackle was pronounced dead at the scene. Bird sustained no injuries from the crash, according to reports.
