CCSO receives over 80 bikes for Christmas

Candler County Sheriff’s Office established the mission - and the community responded!

Thanks to community support of Operation Bike Drop, the Sheriff’s Office has received enough donations and sponsorships to provide over 80 bikes and helmets to Candler County school children this year.

“The response from the community has been overwhelming,” said Sheriff’s Captain Justin Wells, who helped coordinate the event. “Candler County has really stepped up and accepted the mission. The bikes, helmets, donations and sponsorships have been pouring into our office over the past weeks.

“This is the first year that we have done a drive of this scale for the community. With such a fantastic response, it has been made clear that this operation will continue next year.

“We plan on delivering the bikes to the children this Thursday and Friday. We will be contacting the parents of the children selected by the school personnel to receive the bikes so that we can arrange a delivery schedule.”
