Tickets for Friday night's game are now on sale at the Metter High School Office.

This Friday night the Metter Tigers will welcome the Savannah Country Day Hornets into “The Jungle” for the first home football game of the 2020 Season.

The Metter Tigers will come into the contest ranked number three in the state in Class A after winning their first two games of the season over Swainsboro and South Effingham.

Savannah Country Day will enter the match-up with a record of 0-1, having lost their first game of the season by a score of 32-2 to Bulloch Academy.

Metter is 23-11 alltime against Savannah Country Day, but the two teams have not played since 2011.

Last season the Hornets were 11-1 and went undefeated in the regular season. They were the Region 3-A champs in 2019, but they were knocked out of the playoffs in the second round.

Metter Head Coach Rodney Garvin gave us his thoughts on the upcoming game: “They run a spread offense led by a 6’1” junior quarterback and have some small but fast receivers who are very athletic. The offensive line has good size inside but smaller offensive tackles.

“Defensively, they run a form of 50 defense and they have several players playing on both sides of the ball. We will see a disciplined team next Friday night in our season opener and we will need to play well to win our first home game.”

Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
