Metter Advertiser welcomes new columnist Angel Jarvis with her “Healthier U” column, beginning this week.
Angel is 16 years old and will be a junior at Metter High School this fall. She is very involved at her school, especially the running sports - cross-country and track. She is involved in the 4-H Club where her project area is sports and nutrition.
Angel is volunteer-ing at the Boys & Girls Club by leading a running club for girls 2nd grade and up. They have learned about much more than running.
During this upcoming school year, Angel is working on “Leadership in Action” in 4-H. “Leadership in Action” is a program in which a 4-H’er identifies a community or agricultural problem and implements plans to solve the problem.
Angel’s “Leadership in Action” project is called “Healthier U” and concentrates on the local problem of obesity and lack of physical fitness in young girls.
Angel has turned her hobbies of running and nutrition into lifestyle changes, and she wants to share some tips with the community through a column, Healthier U Tips, in which she will share tips for a healthier lifestyle.
Angel is the daughter of Suzanne J. Tyson and Jim Jarvis. She is the granddaughter of James and Martha Jones.
