Beginning April 1, action pact will be accepting applications from qualified candidates for cooling assistance.

Diane Rogers, community services director, has announced that local Community Action Agency, action pact, will operate the Cooling Component of the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance program funded by the Georgia Department of Human Services. 

Program income guidelines have been set at 60% of the state’s median income. The program will begin April 1, 2021. 

Only elderly (65 and older) and medically homebound households will be served between April 1 and April 30, 2021. 

To qualify as an elderly household, all adult members of the household must be 65 years of age or older. To qualify as a medically homebound household, there can be no one in the household who is not medically homebound, or you must be the sole caretaker of a medically homebound member. 

All other income-eligible applicants may call beginning May 3 and will be served if funds are available. 

Beginning April 1 at 8 a.m., residents of Candler County must call 685-2580 or 685-4881 to schedule an appointment. 

The Cooling Component of the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program is operated on a first come, first served basis and will end upon depletion of funds.
