The City of Metter sanitation and streets and lanes departments have changed their hours of operation, effective this week.

The work day for these personnel will now run from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“The level of service and routes will remain the same,” said City Public Works Director Cliff Hendrix. However, he said, “This will affect the time that polycarts will be emptied. Everyone may want to put their polycarts out the night before.”

City Manager Mandi Cody explained that the change will more closely align these departments with the operational hours of the county landfill and will also help employees working outdoors during high temperatures over the summer.

As part of the FY2020 budget discussion, council is considering a move to a three-day collection week. The details of how this will impact individual routes have not yet been worked out.
