Sarah’s Sweets holds ribbon cutting

Pictured at Thursday’s ribbon cutting at the new location of Sarah’s Sweets are (l-r) employees Katina Walden and Dot Cowart; owners Sarah Jones and Carl Jones and employee Augustina Ortiz.

It’s at a new location, but long-time fans of Sarah’s Sweets will still be able to enjoy their favorite delicacies and will also find a few new items on the menu. The bakery was previously located in a portion of Metter’s Church of Christ at 404 West Broad Street.

On Thursday, Sarah and Carl Jones cut the ribbon at the new home of Sarah’s Sweets, 7 South Lewis Street across from Little Chick. The larger location means more space to provide even more pastries and sweets as well as the new menu additions.

In addition to the usual cakes, cookies, cheese straws, cinnamon rolls, stick buns, cream cheese Danish, fudge and pralines, Sarah says, “We will have gravy and homemade biscuits and various wraps available for breakfast and our lunch items will include chicken pie empanadas and shepherd’s pie empanadas.”

She will also offer kolaches with various fillings. A kolache is an Eastern European style pastry of puffy dough holding a portion of fruit filling.

Sarah and her staff are now busy baking and cooking delicacies for their walk-in customers and for those who call ahead to order sweets and custom cakes (912-225-8171).

Sarah’s Sweets will be open from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
