A Christmas miracle

Then firefighters arrived on the scene of the Acorn Lane fire on Friday morning, they found Birdy, a German short-hair pointer who will turn 1 in January, unresponsive in a kennel inside the house.

The medics on the scene began administering oxygen and rushed the dog to Metter Vet Clinic for treatment. Alex Farlow, a firefighter and a nurse, assisted in transporting the dog.

“That’s the first time I have transported an animal running blue lights and sirens since I’ve been with the department,” said Firefighter Ike Haynie.

Birdy was treated at the vet clinic and released with a clean bill of health!

Pictured with Birdy are Fire Chief Jason Douglas (l) and Firefighter Dustin Rogers (r).
