UPDATE: Candler County's COVID County is now at 475 cases, with one additional case being reported on Sunday, Oct. 4. The Georgia Department of Health reports 20 COVID-related deaths and 32 hospitalizations for Candler County.

Reported Tuesday, Sept. 29: The county’s COVID count has increased by 37 in the past week, from 422 cases on Monday, Sept. 14, to 459 cases on Monday, Sept. 28, with 31 hospitalizations, according to the GA Department of Public Health.

The county has reported two additional deaths during this time, bringing the total victim count to 19. According to Grice Connect, one victim was a 90+ year-old white male with co-morbidity. The 19th victim’s information was not available at press time.

School update

In their regular weekly report for Friday, Sept. 25, Candler County Board of Education posted four new positive cases and five individuals placed in precautionary quarantine as a result of new cases.

These numbers reflect 0.16% of positive cases among the system’s 2500 student and staff population and 0.20% placed in quarantine.
