Plans are being finalized now for a White Country Christmas celebration during the annual Chamber Gala & Auction. The event will be held on Dec. 10 starting at 7 p.m. at its new location: Dutch Ford Farm (1710 Defair Farm Loop).

In keeping with the rustic surroundings, event coordinator Jaime Riggs of Metter-Candler Chamber of Commerce said, “This is a casual theme as we celebrate a White Country Christmas in the beautiful barn of Dutch Ford Farms! Don your cowboy boots, your denim and your diamonds to help us celebrate!”

This year's ‘Watering Hole’ will be sponsored by Pineland Bank, and attendees will see the return of many popular packages, including the Fisherman's Delights, an in-shore fishing package provided by Kasey Harrison of Hulsey, Tootle & Harrison; a Flounder Gigging Trip with Jeff Starling, courtesy of Starling Adventures; a four-day, three-night stay at Lake Oconee, courtesy of CarterFranklin; and a week-long stay at Tybee Island, courtesy of Dale & Jincy Fordham.

New packages this year are a week-long getaway for up to six people in Boone, NC, courtesy of Dr. Les and Jean Furr; a pig pickin' with all the trimmings for 25-40, provided by Brian Tootle of Hulsey, Tootle & Harrison; a King & Prince Getaway (details to follow); a four-day Arkansas duck hunt with all meals and lodging, courtesy of H & H Timber Co.; and a Ladies’ Pamper Package with spa treatment, hair, nails and head-to-toe fashions.

DJ Michael Parker will provide entertainment for the event, and Lane Brothers Auction will provide the evening's auctioneer.

Dutch Ford Farms is located five miles past Hendrix Farms on Dutch Ford Road. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased in advance at The Metter Advertiser or Metter-Candler Chamber of Commerce or can be purchased at the door.
