There may be a connection with two of the three burglaries that occurred last week, according to Police Chief Mack Seckinger.
“Cedar Street and Candler Street may be related, but we have not proved or ruled that out yet,” he reported on Monday, May 8.
Officer Brian Bahorich was conducting a building check of the 215 Candler St. residence shortly before 4 a.m. on May 2 when he found a window broken and the back door forced open.
Police were dispatched to the Sconyers St. residence of Johnny Goodman around 8 a.m. May 2.
The burglary is believed to have occurred between 10 p.m. Monday, May 1, and 8 a.m. on May 2.
Reported stolen were a Remington shotgun and rifle, a laptop, a wedding band and keys to a pick-up truck.
In addition to items stolen from the house, Goodman also reported the theft of a 2003 Ford Mustang.
On Wednesday, May 3, around 11:45 a.m., officers were notified of an attempted burglary in progress at 60 Cedar Street.
The caller informed officers that a suspicious vehicle was seen in the rear driveway of the residence. The vehicle was a silver SUV operated by two black male subjects, the report stated. The two attempted to gain entry to the residence but fled the scene. No items were reported missing or stolen.
Anyone having any information on any of these cases is asked to contact Metter Police Department, 685-5437.
