The Metter-Candler Recreation Board has canceled the spring 2020 youth league baseball/softball season.

“The Recreation Board and I carefully weighed our options and decided that the risk of playing our season was too great,” said Recreation Director Mike Robins. “We felt that our players, coaches, parents, guardians and grandparents would be at risk if we scheduled games at this time.

“As always, safety is our number one priority and we could not guarantee everyone’s safety.”

Refunds will be processed and mailed soon. However, families wishing to leave their fees as donations can do so, but the request must be stated in writing.

“We will miss all of the excitement of our ballgames and all the smiling faces,” Robins said. “We look forward to our fall season of football, soccer and softball.”

Families with questions can call the recreation department at 912-685-2370.
