A 42-year-old homeless man was arrested on Wednesday, Jan. 5, in connection with a commercial burglary.
Jamie Lynn Deal was arrested around 12 noon and charged with burglary, with more charges pending. He is being held in Candler County Jail with no bond.
Deal’s arrest came after Candler County Sheriff’s Office took to social media in an effort to locate a suspect believed to be involved in theft of items from a local business.
Blake Whitfield, owner of a local gym in Metter, informed deputies on Tuesday, Jan. 4, that items were missing from his building. He shared video images of the suspect, which were later shared with the public on social media, leading to Deal’s arrest.
“We sought the community’s help to identify the suspect for this crime,” said Sheriff’s Captain Justin Wells. “The community responded immediately with tips and information. This information led directly to an arrest warrant being obtained for Deal this morning (Wednesday). CCSO investigators located Deal around 12 noon today and arrested him. We cannot thank our community enough for helping us solve this case. We value our relationship with our citizens greatly.
“We are still actively working the case and learning more information about what occurred.
