On Saturday, Aug. 10, deputies met with a woman who reported that her 15-year-old child was not in her bed when the complainant woke up.
The woman said the juvenile was returned to her home shortly after noon on that day by Martin Rodriguez after the mother called him to return the child immediately. The woman called the sheriff’s office, and Rodriguez reportedly ran, speeding off in his vehicle. The juvenile, reports indicate, was persuaded to sneak out of the home around 2:30 a.m.
On that same day, Candler County Sheriff’s Office took to social media in an effort to locate Rodriguez, 20, who was wanted by investigators as a person of interest in an ongoing child sex crime investigation. He had last been seen in a 1999 Gold Ford Expedition and was believed to possibly be in the Vidalia or Evans County area.
On Monday, investigators followed up on an anonymous tip shortly after 8 p.m. Sheriff John Miles stopped a vehicle and located Rodriguez who was taken into custody by the Sheriff without incident.
He has been charged with enticing a child for indecent purposes, with more charges pending.
