Tigers to scrimmage Tattnall Co. Friday

Coach Scott Schofill gives instruction to the varsity Tigers during a recent practice.

The Metter Tigers will start their 2019 season this Friday night in the Jungle when they face the Tattnall County Warriors in a simple scrimmage. Metter last played the Warriors in a regular-season game in 2007 where they fell 0-40 under the direction of Head Coach Clay Hill. Tattnall went 2-9 last season in the 2-AAA region and the Tigers look to gain valuable insights this upcoming Friday.

During the scrimmage, special teams will participate but there will be no contact for special teams. Varsity will play the 1st, 2nd and 4th quarters and junior varsity will enter during the 3rd quarter.

“We are just ready to evaluate our kids against a different team. Many question marks still exist and we will use this time to gain some clarity. We need a strong community turn out to support these kids who have worked very hard all summer for Metter Football. As we always say, TEAM>me," commented Head Coach Rodney Garvin.

Kick-off for the scrimmage will be at 7:30 in the Jungle.
