Funeral services for Carvy Snell, owner and publisher of Metter Advertiser, were held on Monday at Lake Cemetery.
Snell, who died on Friday, March 12, was also the owner of Metter Graphics as well as other business interests in the community. But perhaps he was best known for launching Metter’s premier spring celebration, Another Bloomin’ Festival, and serving as the festival’s Steering Committee chairman for 20 years.
Known as “Mr. Metter” for his involvement in a number of foundations, committees and community projects and plans, Snell was Metter’s 2008 Citizen of the Year and the Chamber of Commerce’s 2019 Volunteer of the Year.
He was instrumental in the establishment of the Candler County Foundation for Public Education and served on the Candler County Industrial Development Authority, Metter Booster Club and the Metter-Candler Recreation Department Board,
Under his guidance, Metter Advertiser has produced and published the Candler County Community Magazine each year since 2012. He has also represented his industry by serving as president of the Georgia Press Association.
