Candler County’s COVID count has moved to 353 cases as of Monday at 3 p.m. with three additional deaths reported in the last week. That brings the county’s total to 14 deaths and 18 hospitalizations.
Grice Connect reports that the three most recent deaths are a 62-year-old white male with no comorbidity; a 73-year-old male (race unknown) with comorbidity and a 77-year-old white female with comorbidity.
Grice Connect also reports that the county has a 14-day average of positive cases per 100,000 of 655 and its percent of positive tests is 16.4%. (Targets are below 100 per 100,000 and positive tests at 5% or below).
Last week, Candler County Schools reported three new positive cases among the school population and 31 individuals who have been placed in precautionary quarantine as a result of new cases.
From the school’s population of 2500 students and employees, 0.12% tested positive last week (Aug. 24-28) and 1.24 percent of the population were in quarantine.
In the first weeks of school, Longgrear reported 11 positive cases among students and personnel. The system reports its totals each Friday.
