According to parade organizers the Trump parade will still be happening today at 5:30.
‘Boat parade’ to include rigs, tractors & more
Sen. Hickman, Rep. Parrish to serve as grand marshals
Newly-elected State Senator Billy Hickman and Representative Butch Parrish will serve as grand marshals of Metter’s Trump Boat Parade on Thursday afternoon at 5:30 p.m.
A boat parade in downtown Metter? Absolutely!
“If it floats, we want it in our parade!” That’s what Charles Holland, an event coordinator said.
But it’s more than a “boat” parade. The event is open to tractors and big rigs (without trailers). Event coordinators report that “Custom Marine and Bulloch Marine are bringing their biggest and best,” and some members of Southern Cruisers are bringing their showstoppers.
“Everyone is invited to join in,” Holland said. “Bring your Trump flags and signs to show your support for the re-election of President Donald J. Trump.”
Entries will begin lining up at 4:30 p.m. in front of Candler County Library on 50 S. Kennedy St. You do not have to call to enter; just show up to participate.
During the event, CDC guidelines regarding masks and social distancing will be observed.

Fundraising for a good cause
As part of Thursday’s festivities, donations will be accepted during the parade for Wesley Woods of Metter, who is fighting cancer. Alicia Douglas will be at the corner of South Kennedy and West Vertia (at the library) with a collection bucket and a sign. Donations will be given to the Woods family after the parade.
