Voter registration deadline for Georgia voters is Oct. 5

The Metter High JROTC will be helping high school students get registered to vote for the upcoming election and all future elections.

Voter registration will take place on  Thursday and Friday, Sept. 24 and 25, during all lunches. Students must be 17-1/2 or older and must know the last four digits of their Social Security number. Additionally, students must have their Georgia driver’s license or a Georgia ID in order to register.

The deadline for Georgia voters to be registered in order to participate in the Nov. 3 General Election is Oct. 5 - in person, online or by mail (must be postmarked by Oct. 5). 

The deadline to request an absentee ballot is Oct. 30. Ballots must be postmarked by Nov. 3 if they are to be returned by mail or must be returned in person by 7 p.m. on Nov. 3.

Early voting will run Oct. 12-30. Times will be announced by Candler County Election Superintendent Tony Thompson closer to date. All in-person voting will take place at the Jack Strickland building.
