Eagles to host state championship game Friday

Jesse Moore returns an interception for a touchdown in football action Friday night.

When the Eagles take to the field in Stillmore this Friday night, they will be making school history! For the first time in the school’s 50-plus years, David Emanuel Academy will be hosting the state football championship!

In semi-final action on Friday, the Eagles won 48-18 over Victory Christian Academy of Loganville in a game played in Stillmore.

The Eagles drew first blood when Banks Booth connected with Jesse Moore for a 22-yard touchdown pass and then added two more when Booth again connected with Moore for the conversion.

Victory Christian responded with a touchdown of their own, making the score 8-6, before Racyn Faircloth tacked on six more for the Eagles on a 1-yard run. Booth threw to Faircloth for the two-point conversion to move the score to 16-6.

Timothy Braddock recovered a fumble to bring the offense back to the field. That was followed by another Faircloth touchdown on an 8-yard run. The touchdown was capped by a Booth-to-Faircloth pass for the two-point conversion and the score now stood at 24-6.

Another fumble was recovered, this time by Brayden Smith, to bring the offense back to the field before Moore returned to the end zone on a 38-yard pass from Dane Arrington. Booth connected with Faircloth for the conversion to extend the Eagle lead to 32-6.

Arrington and Moore each had an interception, but Victory Christian still found the end zone twice to move the score to 32-18 before Moore returned to the end zone, this time on a 3-yard run. Braddock ran in the two-point conversion to make the score 40-18.

Braddock’s last touchdown of the night came on a 3-yard run and was capped by Moore’s successful two-point conversion to make the final score 48-18.
