When the Eagles take to the field in Stillmore this Friday night, they will be making school history! For the first time in the school’s 50-plus years, David Emanuel Academy will be hosting the state football championship!
In semi-final action on Friday, the Eagles won 48-18 over Victory Christian Academy of Loganville in a game played in Stillmore.
The Eagles drew first blood when Banks Booth connected with Jesse Moore for a 22-yard touchdown pass and then added two more when Booth again connected with Moore for the conversion.
Victory Christian responded with a touchdown of their own, making the score 8-6, before Racyn Faircloth tacked on six more for the Eagles on a 1-yard run. Booth threw to Faircloth for the two-point conversion to move the score to 16-6.
Timothy Braddock recovered a fumble to bring the offense back to the field. That was followed by another Faircloth touchdown on an 8-yard run. The touchdown was capped by a Booth-to-Faircloth pass for the two-point conversion and the score now stood at 24-6.
Another fumble was recovered, this time by Brayden Smith, to bring the offense back to the field before Moore returned to the end zone on a 38-yard pass from Dane Arrington. Booth connected with Faircloth for the conversion to extend the Eagle lead to 32-6.
Arrington and Moore each had an interception, but Victory Christian still found the end zone twice to move the score to 32-18 before Moore returned to the end zone, this time on a 3-yard run. Braddock ran in the two-point conversion to make the score 40-18.
Braddock’s last touchdown of the night came on a 3-yard run and was capped by Moore’s successful two-point conversion to make the final score 48-18.
DEA will face Horizon Christian Academy of Cumming at 7:30 p.m. for the GAPPS State Championship match-up Friday. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for students. No passes will be accepted. Gates open at 6 p.m., with Eagle Walk set for 7 p.m.
