Wednesday's Daily Covid Count on the Georgia Department of Public Health website shows an increase in six cases overnight ... from 191 reported on Tuesday to 197. Of the county's cases, 94 were diagnosed in the past two weeks with eight hospitalizations and three deaths. Unfortunately, DPH does not tell more specifics regarding local patients who have been hospitalized or died, according to Candler County EMA Deputy Director Justin Wells.

What the spike means for our community is that we need to double down on our efforts -- wear masks and other PPE, limit places you visit, practice social distancing whenever possible, avoid crowds when you can, and wash your hands, often!

With school starting on Monday, we encourage our teachers and our students to mask up. Let's all work together to protect ourselves and our community! Let's do our part to stop this frightening spike.
